June meeting updates
Tech Updates
GRID 3 Updates
CLOUD TECH REQUIREMENTS (focus of V3)
- Compute, Storage, Network need to be
- Local
- Sovereign
- Private
- More Secure
- Storage needs to be
- Ultra reliable (never lose data)
- Capable to be global and be used as CDN (Content Delivery Network)
- Fast enough for the Use Case at hand
- Optimized for Edge/AI (deduped for containers, vm’s, …)
- The network needs to be
- Working no matter what happens with the existing network, route around issues.
- Local sensitive (chose shortest path)
- End2End Encrypted
- Capable to know where information goes to or comes from (authenticity)
3.14 Updates and Improvements
- Release Focus
- Stability and reliability
- Main goal for now and the short term is to achieve high-availability in order to be able to support larger projects we are speaking with
- Release Highlights
- Node: Can deploy 3Nodes with HDD only
- Farmerbot: farmers can now specify the priority to wake up nodes
- Mycelium support throughout the ecosystem
What’s coming with 3.15
- Guardian validator stacks deployed & well documented
- Mycelium as baselayer, remove rmb
- Mycelium client for mobile & desktops
- Mycelium new features: socks5 + dns resolver (resolves to our backend (centralized for now) as well std internet)
- Well documented openrpc endpoints in zos/explorer/…
- Nice UI for quantum safe storage in ZOS
- Marketplace server (python+v) openrpc API (no UI yet), deploys cloud slices, storage slices, … using USDC stellar (first version)
For more info click here, however, the points above are still in discussion and if you have any feedback on the same you can bring them to Kristoff & Thabet
Grid 4
CLOUD OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (V4)
- SCALE
- To be a credible alternative to Amazon, Google, … we need millions of nodes.
- We need reward system to be capable to deploy those millions of nodes.
- UPTIME WITH RELIABLE SERVICE LEVELS GUARANTEES
- Our current v3 cloud is based on best effort approach, not good enough for many workloads.
- It’s ok to have multiple levels of service, but we need to make sure customers know,
- Better tools to find capacity in line with requirements.
- We need flexible pricing, so farmers can define price in line with service levels.
- We need farming pools to assist farmers who are not tech or don’t want to spent much time.
- There need to be agreements & commitments between farmers & customers where needed.
- LEGAL
- To be a service provider has certain legal requirements, right now it’s all part of T&C but that is too rough, this needs to be fine-tuned.
- Many customers will want a possibility to have a contract between themselves and our project.
TFGrid 4.0 focus is mainly on these requirements, we have as aim to become the most usable edge cloud.
Project Internet Capacity Update
- Initiating a funding round for a successful Token Genesis Event (TGE)
- Finalising the tokenomics
ThreeFold Docs Updates
- Major improvements to the ThreeFold Tech book
- Major updates to the manual: Quantum Safe Storage guide will be released soon
